The Whitby Report – July 31, 2019

Here we at the end of the month. I remember it being so super cold this winter and now we’re already half-way through the summer. /SIGH

Today is Wednesday, July 31, 2019. I am your host Stone and this is The Whitby Report.

Weather
Today is looking pretty good; it’s only 21° (humidex: 23°C). We will be reaching a high of 25° (29°C with humidex). We are looking at clear skies all day. It’s a beautiful day out; get the kids out there and let ’em play.

North Durham Safety Blitz Pulls Nearly 25% of Inspected Vehicles from the Road. Source: https://www.durhamregion.com/news-story/9524986-north-durham-safety-blitz-pulls-nearly-25-of-inspected-vehicles-from-the-road/

Stone’s Take
Yes, this isn’t necessarily about Whitby itself, but I’ve driven around Durham for various reasons and there really are a TON of trucks and commercial vehicles that are either blatant polluters or just aren’t road worthy. There’s been a few times where we hear about a tire flying off a truck and crushing nearby cars.

I’m glad they did this four-day blitz; I just wish they would be more vigilant with it on a consistent basis.
