The Whitby Report – September 13, 2019

Today is Friday, September 13, 2019. I am your host Stone and this is The Whitby Report.

Weather
Admittedly, I toyed with the idea of making a scary or dark version of TWR today since it’s Friday the 13th, however, the weather has stepped up and is delivering. It is currently 17°C but it feels like 16°C. Yes. That’s right. Windchill again. How scary is that??? Summer is even over! It’s pretty windy out right now and we are expecting some rain in the evening.

All the food already donated! Great job!

Whitby Twitter Challenge Aims to Feed the Hunger Need in Durham Region. Our CAO, Matt Gaskell, threw the gauntlet down to the other towns in Durham Region to see who could raise the most food donations for National Hunger Action Month. You can follow the @Feed_the_Need1 challenge by keeping an eye on the #FeedtheNeedChallenge twitter hashtag.

Stone’s Take
I usually do not participate in food drives as money can usually be tight here. Non-perishable food items are kept up in my cupboard and typically get used when we get sudden surprise expenses. We have gone through our extra non-perishables and put together a bag and donated it today. If you are in Whitby and can spare a can or two, please do so. There is tons of parking available at the Town of Whitby Town Hall.
